Museum Schmelzra, S-charl
Museum Schmelzra, S-charl
A visit to the Schmelzra Museum provides an insight into Mot Madlain's historical mine. For 300 years, iron ore was extracted here and smelted to produce the much sought-after silver and lead deposits.
Enjoy an exciting journey alongside the Swiss National Park from Scuol to the remote hamlet of S-charl. A visit to the child-friendly Schmelzra Museum offers an interesting insight into the life of the miners and invites visitors to follow the trail of the bears.
«Auf den Spuren der Bären» (On the trail of the bears) is the title of the Swiss National Park special exhibition in the Schmelzra. Switzerland's last brown bear was killed in S-charl in 1904. The exhibition demonstrates the significance attached to bears in the past and explores the return of the brown bear to Switzerland.
