Vallée de Joux Routes: Gimel–Le Marchairuz–Le Brassus Route
Gimel–Le Marchairuz–Le Brassus
Enjoy a trip on the Gimel–Le Marchairuz–Le Brassus Route and views of Waadtländer Jura and the Vallée de Joux. And discover the numerous possible recreational activities underway.
The Gimel–Le Marchairuz–Le Brassus Route leads through the Parc Jurassien and on to the Vallée de Joux.
The Gimel-Le Marchairuz–Le Brassus Route leads through the Parc Jurassien and on to the Vallée de Joux.
Here, the rolling Jura hills of the Parc Jurassien, along with natural flora and fauna, make a very pretty picture indeed! And the St-George park centre is the place to pick up useful information about the park. (PostBus stop St-George, village).
Col du Marchairuz, highest point on the route, offers stunning scenic views, and from here numerous popular hikes commence; for example, to Mont Tendre (PostBus stop Le Marchairuz, col). A particular historic jewel is the Hotel and Restaurant du Marchairuz that has faithfully provided food and shelter to hikers since a good 150 years! And behind, tucked between the two Jura mountain chains, the Vallée de Joux lures windsurfers, ice skaters and riders.
A lakeside ride with the nostalgic steam-railway is another enjoyable experience – along with the sights of Le Brassus (Postbus stop Le Brassus, gare) and Le Sentier, where you can witness the traditional, fine art of watch making.
