Experience the fascinating Alpine landscape of the Valais with the Ticino Route Express. You pass over Switzerland's highest road pass, the Nufenen Pass, into Ticino's Leventina Valley and over the Gotthard Pass to Andermatt.

Oberwald

Oberwald, a typical Valais village with picturesque chalets and narrow streets, is the starting point of the Ticino Route Express. Here is where the famous car train through the Furka Tunnel starts and ends. A stay in Oberwald offers plenty of hiking opportunities through the lovely larch forest surrounding the village.

Oberwald–Nufenen Pass

You will continue your journey to Ulrichen at the foot of the Nufenen Pass. The charm and character of this part of Valais are unforgettable. The Nufenen Pass is a very popular place to go hiking or enjoy skiing tours along the North-South Alpine divide, and some of the most beautiful peaks in the Alps guarantee a spectacular panorama.

    

   

Nufenen Pass–Airolo

Next, your driver will take you into the Italian–Swiss region and through the Bedretto Valley towards Airolo in the Leventina Valley. In this popular ski and summer resort in the Ticino you can enjoy an espresso or an Italian-style pizza.

   

   

Airolo-Gotthard Pass–Andermatt

Your trip then takes you over the 2,108 metre Gotthard, disputably the most famous of all Alpine passes. Once at the summit, it’s well worth visiting the St.Gotthard Museum. You then descend through unspoilt scenery to Hospental. Shortly thereafter we will arrive in Andermatt, located in a rugged valley, which nevertheless also has its gentle side. A stop combined with a visit to the spectacular Schöllenen Gorge further down, including the notorious Devil’s Bridge and the Suworow Monument, is worth every minute.
