FLUX 2011 – human-powered mobility
Human-powered mobility can help curtail costly private motorized transport, reduce environmental and noise pollution, and improve the quality of life in settlement areas. In turn, this yields financial benefits through savings in public and private mobility expenditure and relieves the burden on the health system thanks to improved health and a greater sense of personal well-being. The biggest economic benefit of human-powered mobility can be seen in the networking of public and private motorized transport. With this in mind, particular importance is attached to the departure, arrival and changeover locations, otherwise known as transport hubs. What's more, high-quality bicycle parking areas are increasing the appeal of human-powered mobility.
