The postbus on the way to Griesalp

The eleven stations of the future Griesalp PostBus adventure trail are located on the hiking path leading from the Griesalp mountain station down to the village of Kiental. The trail ends near the base station of the Ramslauenen chairlift. The walk takes approximately two hours. During this time the hikers descend 500 meters in altitude. On the themed trail the visitors actively experience the four elements earth, water, air and fire. Among other attractions, a platform with views of the steep turns of the PostBus route, a photo stop overlooking Lake Tschingel, a climbing wall, and an all-weather grilling station will be available.

The procedure to obtain the building permit has been completed. The construction phase will begin in November and the trail is scheduled to open in early summer 2018. The adventure trail is a project of Kiental-Reichenbach Tourism in cooperation with PostBus. Sponsors will also help to finance the cost of CHF 90,000, in addition to Kiental-Reichenbach Tourism and its primary partner PostBus.

The PostBus route is known far beyond the borders of Switzerland because on the 30-minute drive from Kiental to Griesalp the postbus climbs Europe’s steepest bus route with a gradient of as much as 28 percent. The Kiental-Griesalp road is a seasonal summer route. This year it will close on 22 October and reopen in June of next year. Griesalp is a well-known conference venue and a popular hiking area.
