The experience trail conveys 13 themes in a clever and amusing way, promising lasting sensory experiences and fantastic views of Appenzell and Alpstein.

The hike starts in Appenzell either at the trails final destination, at the train station Sammelplatz or in Schlatt. A large board at the start provides an overview of the individual stations. The information boards along the way provide explanations, encouraging visitors to think and get involved. The trail also provides an insight into the origins of the Nagelfluh rib landscape typical of the region and frequently points out familiar farming rules. A sensory journey through nature on a varied hiking trail.

• Barbecue areas in the “Flecken” area below Schlatt and in the Gehrenberg area near Saul, new barbecue area at the final destination in Appenzell from spring 2023
• Restaurants: Gasthaus Bären in Schlatt (rest days: Tuesday and Wednesday), Olive – Genuss & Design at Sammelplatz (rest day: Sunday)
• Hike: Appenzell (Ziel–) Steig–Schlepfen–Stockerers–Schlatt–Gehrenberg–Saul–Sammelplatz Meistersrüte
• You can also reach Schlatt and Saul with the PubliCar Appenzell  flexible on-demand bus service. The Appenzell, Steig stop is also in service from Monday–Friday via PostBus route 191 .
