Lake Wägital is the ideal starting point for all kinds of outdoor activities. The Postbus on route 523 will take you to Innerthal. Various hiking routes lead from here into the surrounding mountain landscape. If you prefer a leisurely pace, choose the walking trail around the lake. For ambitious mountaineers, there are various unique hiking routes to be discovered.

Enjoy the panoramic view over the lake from the viewing terrace of the Restaurant Seeblick in Innerthal, as well as a refreshing drink or snack.

Attractions and information

  • A walk around Lake Wägital (approx. three hours), also suitable for families with children (suitable for prams)
  • Vorderthal-Rötstock-Salbügel-Brüschtockbügel hike (1,488 m) with descent to Innerthal (approx. 3.5 hours), with magnificent views of the Glarus and Uri Alps
  • Hike to the Grossen Aubrig (approx. 3.5 hours) promises a unique view of the various lakes: Lake Wägital, Lake Zurich, Lake Greifen, Lake Pfäffiker and Lake Sihl
  • Boat tour on Lake Wägital with a rowing or motor boat, from the beginning of April to mid-October, fishing allowed with a valid fishing permit

  • Cave tour through the endless Wägital caves
