Screens in Postbuses redesigned

From February onwards, PostBus will no longer be using Helvetica font due to poor legibility and will be introducing Bahnschrift on the dual display screens.

Rich Content Section

Passengers will notice a change on the dual display screens in Postbuses from mid-February 2024. The journey information will be displayed differently. The font used on displays is changing from Helvetica to “Bahnschrift Light Condensed”, developed by Microsoft. It is compact and easier to read from longer distances. Bahnschrift was inspired by the DIN 1451 font, which is commonly used on place name and information signs in Germany and Austria. The SBB, for its part, will be introducing their own “SBB font”.

New layout

There will also be a slight change in the layout of the dual screens. Passengers will now benefit from having the planned arrival time, including the predicted delay, shown on the route display for every stop. Information on connections, which is displayed on the screens prior to arrival at defined transfer hubs, is also more clearly designed and easier to read. The stop icon, indicating the passenger's desire to stop, will now be shown on the left instead of the top right of the screen and alternates with the route number. The current time will no longer be displayed in analog form using the SBB clock, but rather shown digitally.

I firmly believe that the new layout with additional information will benefit all passengers and is worth the time it’ll take to get used to it

Flurina Jacot, who is responsible for the changeover

These changes will be introduced in Ticino at a later date for technical reasons. In the ZVV area, the layout of Zurich Transport Network will still be used.
