Bicycle carry-on – reservations

Places are limited. We therefore always recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Please pay special attention to this symbolvelotransport-symbolin the official timetable : It means that you need to reserve available space in order to bring your bicycle with you.

Reservations are essential for groups of six people or more; please see relevant timetable for details: www.official-swiss-timetable.ch.

Biking your way through Switzerland

Important for you to know: On some PostBus routes, taking a bicycle requires a reservation. The Day Card for bikes and the annual bike pass (GA) from SBB and other transport providers are valid for the entire PostBus network. Passengers do not need to purchase an additional ticket for their bike on the Postbus.

During the summer season, postbuses are equipped with practical bicycle racks at the rear of the vehicle, except for minibuses and vehicles operating in urban areas. There is no guarantee of transportation.

Ticino Region

Reservations and information:

Valid on all routes on the official timetable, with the exception of those where “no bicycle transportation” is indicated and on routes in Bellinzona and the surrounding area, where the transportation of bicycles is not permitted.

Bicycles can be carried providing there is sufficient space available and you do not obstruct the other passengers. There is no guarantee of transportation.

Wallis Region

Reservations and information:

Buses equipped with bike racks on various routes from mid-May to mid-October. Limited bicycle transportation. Reservations are recommended.

It is not possible to make reservations on the Visp-Visperterminen route.

During the summer season, one postbus per day is equipped with a special trailer offering space for up to 20 bikes on the following two routes:

  • 12.631 Brig-Simplon Pass at 09.18 hrs.
  • 12.528 Visp-Bürchen-Moosalp at 09.10 hrs.

Passengers wishing to carry bicycles on these two routes must make a reservation by 17.00 hrs. on the evening before travel via the telephone number 058 386 69 00 or by email: wallis@postauto.ch. Reservations for Sundays and Mondays must be made by 17.00 hrs. on Friday evening.

Specially provided bike trailers are available with space for up to 20 bikes. A reservation is nevertheless strongly recommended given the large number of bicycles transported on these routes. Reservations can be made online at www.ts-ar.ch/bike.
