Aargau Cantonal Museum of Viticulture
Wine culture at its finest
From the grapevine to the wine tasting: experience wine culture across four floors of the historical wine press in Tegerfelden.
Housed in a historical wine press built in 1788, the Tegerfelden museum showcases wine culture in its finest form. Spanning four floors, the Aargau Museum of Viticulture (Weinbaumuseum) provides visitors with information about everything from the cultivation of vines to filling bottles with the finished product.
The barrels and filling machinery are kept in the vault. Information about labelling can be found in the basement. The ground floor is dedicated entirely to the theme of viticulture throughout the ages, with the wooden presses and containers on display demonstrating how wine was produced in past centuries. The first floor focuses on wine-growing: cultivation, refinement and harvesting are just three of the themes highlighted in this part of the exhibition. Once visitors reach the second floor, the spotlight turns to cork, while the newly built annex houses a fully equipped cooperage.
