Alpine hikes in the Swiss National Park

Hiking tips: walks with stunning panoramic views

These hikes lead right through the middle of the Swiss National Park, where you will be enchanted by the distinctive flora and fauna.

Buffalora hike

Approx. 3 ½ hours

Starting at Buffalora, this well-marked hiking trail leads upwards over Alp Buffalora to the hut at Marangun (2,194 m).It continues through extensive pastures and on to the col between Munt Buffalora and Munt Chavagl. Following directions to Munt la Schera, the trail takes you around the side of the mountain before reaching Alp la Schera and finally heading north to the Fuorn Pass and Il Fuorn.

The hike can also depart from the Ofen Pass (approx. 5 hours).

National Park Panoramic Hiking Trail 45, SwitzerlandMobility

Hiking time: approx. 7 ¼ hours (1,500 m in altitude)
Level of difficulty: difficult

Go past the new National Park Centre in Zernez and continue to the end of the village, cross the Spölbach creek and follow the signs to Chamanna Cluozza (Cluozza Hut). The path first takes you across beautiful meadows before it begins to climb. It passes the monument of P.B. Sarasin, the founder of the National Park, and ascends through the rugged Cluozza valley. The ever changing scenery from steep rock slopes to a spectacular ravine and light mountain forests makes this route particularly attractive. From Chamanna Cluozza the path climbs, steeply at times, to Murtèr ridge where it opens up to stunning views. On the descent, the trail leads through the craggy Praspöl canyon and across a bridge to the PostBus stop of Vallun Chafuol on the Ofen Pass road.
