Discover the fantastic Piumogna region which is especially beautiful in winter. Hiking through these sceneries on snowshoes is an unforgettable experience.
The village of Dalpe is situated on the other bank of the Ticino river at a short distance from the train station and the motorway. It lies at the mouth of the Piumogna valley, famous for its magnificent waterfall and for being the starting point for many alpine excursions. Every winter, snowshoe trails for all levels are created near Dalpe. After half an hour by postbus from Airolo or about twenty minutes from Faido, you get off at the "Dalpe, Villaggio" stop from where two itineraries start, one easy and one more difficult. Another easy route suitable for families or beginners is a little further on, near the Bedrina facilities. The snowshoe trails are well signposted, always open and lead through the beautiful Piumogna area, far from the frenzy of everyday life. In the middle of enchanting snow-covered forests, you can breathe in the fresh mountain air, forget the stress, and enjoy a day of peace and quiet.
