Enjoy a lovely walk along the shores of the Rhine River and take a comfortable boat ride on the way back. From the boat you may catch sight now and then of the footpath you just took.
This varied hike starts in the small Kyburg town of Diessenhofen.
At the shipping pier, follow the yellow signpost to “Schaffhausen” which takes you down the Rhine. In summer, this is a very pleasant walk in the shade of the trees along the river. The trail then leads around the former St. Katharinental nunnery at the side of the Rhine. It continues along the Rhine through the Scharenwald. Between the forest and the river lies the Schaaren meadow, a valuable nature reserve which is particularly beautiful in June when the irises are in bloom. A little further down the Rhine you come to the “Paradies” with an idyllic park, guesthouse and the former “Paradies” nunnery. Take the ferry to the other side of the Rhine and walk along the right side of the river to Schaffhausen. Round off your day with a boat trip to Diessenhofen or Stein am Rhein.
From Frauenfeld, take the Postbus (route 823) to Diessenhofen. From Stein am Rhein, the Postbus takes you back to Frauenfeld (route 825).
