Idyllic winter scenery
The nature reserve Etang de la Gruère is situated in a peat bog landscape on the Franches-Montagnes plateau in the canton of Jura. It extends over an area of one square kilometer and includes the lake and surrounding forest.
A well maintained path leads around the lake which is surrounded by beautiful landscapes. They remind us of Quebec or Finland, maybe even of a Scottish loch!
This marvellous place in Switzerland is very popular in winter for a stroll around the lake. If the lake is frozen, it is possible to walk on it or even ice skate, but please note: while these activities are tolerated, they take place at everyone’s own risk and responsibility. The thickness of the ice is not checked.
The public transport stop «Saignelégier, la Theurre» is right next to the Etang de la Gruère. The routes 22.132 Tramelan–Saignelégier–Goumois (PostBus) and 22.133 Saignelégier–Tramelan–Glovelier–Bassecourt (CJ) can both be used to get to the Etang de la Gruère.
