Experiencing Winter at Bannalp

Snowshoe tour around Lake Bannalp

Bannalp is an amazing high-mountain valley in the foothills of the Alps, surrounded by majestic peaks. Insider tip for the Engelbergertal valley.

The Bannalp region, a jewel of Canton Nidwalden, located at an altitude of 1600-2800 m in Oberrickenbach - Wolfenschiessen in the Engelberg Valley, is a lovely mountain valley in the foothills of the Alps.

In winter the magic of snow makes Bannalp an attractive mountain region to explore on skis, snowboards or snowshoes. The snowy peaks are accessible by gondola and the Chrüzhütte mountain station is the starting point of magnificent tours in the gorgeous, snow-covered highlands. A snowshoe trail around the Bannalpsee lake takes hikers to the Urnerstaffel mountain inn (Berggasthaus Urnerstaffel) and then back again to the lake, passing through an idyllic winter landscape. Snowshoes can be rented directly from the Fell-Chrüzhütte cable car valley station.
