Discover Heidiland on the Flumserberg route. You get to Flumserberg from Sargans via Flums and find yourself in a great skiing and hiking paradise with wonderful views from up high.
The Flumserberg route takes you from Sargans, where the express trains stop, via Flums to the Flumserberg without having to change over. Enjoy the wonderful skiing and hiking region with its spectacular views and the lovely landscapes of Heidi’s homeland.
In Flums near Lake Walen the Sargans region’s Mask Museum will introduce you to the tradition of mask carving (PostBus stop Flums, Post Office). Be sure to visit the ruins of Gräpplang Castle to the west of the village. Other interesting sights to see are St. Justus church and the chapels of St. Jakob and St. Georg. Situated on a mountain terrace above Flums is the Flumserberg resort. It offers beautiful views of Lake Walen and the Churfirsten mountain range (PostBus stop Flumserberg Tannenboden, Village). In the family-friendly village, you will find hiking trails suitable for strollers, as well as playgrounds. Hiking, biking, Nordic walking, swimming in mountain lakes, and many other activities are also available. While walking on the Sagenerlebnisweg trail, the whole family will learn about the world of tales and legends in a playful manner. The Alpenfloraweg is another interesting hiking trail. The 7 peak / 14 lakes tour is more challenging, but it offers a view of no less than 150 mountain peaks. The wonders of nature can be admired in the GeoGallery where the history of the alpine folds is explained to the visitors. Watch alpine dairymen at their work at Restaurant Sennenstube and taste the excellent cheese specialties.
The area also has ski slopes for any skill level. Snowboarders can let off steam in the fun parks while cross-country skiers have 18 km of trails to enjoy. Two children’s parks are available, and 26 km of groomed winter walking trails offer the winter hikers a wide range of choices. A 3-km sledding ride means excitement for the whole family.
