Frick Dinosaur Museum

Jurassic Park in the Fricktal valley

The Dinosaur Museum in Frick has scientifically important finds from the region on display. The original skeleton of a plateosaurus is unique to Switzerland. The exhibits also include a rare fossilized turtle and marine fossils.

Only in a few places in Switzerland can so many well-preserved dinosaur bones be found as in the Fricktal valley. Sensational finds are being made all the time. Just three years ago, a new predatory dinosaur was discovered, which is of utmost importance for science.

The Frick Dinosaur Museum is the only museum in Switzerland to exhibit, among other things, a full skeleton of a plateosaurus – a large herbivore with a long neck and small skull which lived in the area around 200 million years ago. The exhibit also has bones from predatory dinosaurs, marine fossils and turtles. A film recounts the fascinating history of how the Frick dinosaurs were discovered.

The Dino Trail offers the ideal opportunity for those looking for a hands-on experience during their visit. At the end of the education trail are eight attractively designed boards with information on how the dinosaurs lived and became extinct as well as a dig site to find your own fossils.
