Albis pass (ZH) – through the Zurich jungle
The hike goes from Albispasshöhe to Hochwacht and Bürglen to Sihlwald.
The Albis-Hochwacht observation tower is only one of the many sights on this hike. The platform of the tower juts out of the treetops, and a wooden spiral staircase provides a perfect 360° panoramic view: Zurich, Lake Zurich, Tödi, Rigi, Lake Zug, Pilatus, Uetliberg and again Zurich. The hike begins at the top of the Albis pass. Soon you see the signpost of the Zurich Wilderness Park, and behind it, the natural forest begins: branches covered with moss form waterfalls, rootstalks rise vertically from the ground. After half an hour you reach the observation tower, and after another 50 minutes the Albishorn restaurant. From there, you continue while gently descending on soft forest ground. Dead trees, overgrown with ivy, damp undergrowth, moss everywhere. After about 40 minutes you reach the Sihl river.
