Historical Museum Baden

History and stories from the spa town

Historisches Museum Baden showcases an interesting cross-section of the history of the spa and industrial town. And apart from the modern and attractive exhibition design, the carved architecture of the extension building appeals to the museum guests, too.

The history museum is housed in two very different buildings. In the historic section, the medieval Landvogteischloss, exquisitely furnished castle rooms inform visitors about life in Baden, from the Middle Ages to the 20th century.

The modern extension building is home to the permanent multimedia exhibition “Geschichte >verlinkt<” (History >linked<), where visitors are sent on a digital journey through analogue space. At interactive terminals, they navigate from one exhibit to the next. The exhibits suddenly come to life and emerge from the collection wall. They tell life stories, document developments and events and talk to each other to illustrate historical links.

The main attraction for families with primary school-age children is the castle experience tour. Those who manage to solve challenging tasks and find hidden details inside the castle will awaken Sleeping Beauty.
