Travel by postbus on one of the most beautiful routes in Switzerland. After tackling the 38 hairpin bends and 1200 metres in altitude difference you will reach this typical Ticino stone village: Indemini. It is the starting point for many different hikes, for example to Monte Gambarogno with its breathtaking view of Lake Maggiore.
The postbus takes you from Magadino up the narrow roads above Lake Maggiore all the way to Indemini on one of the most impressive routes in Switzerland, as it has to negotiate 132 bends, 38 of which are hairpin bends. You can either continue the journey to the terminus or get off at the "Alpe di Neggia, Alpe" stop and then walk to Indemini in three hours. The path through the chestnut woods is beautiful, and the chapel of Sant'Anna near Alpe Cedullo is definitely worth a detour as well. A stop at Alpe Cedullo will certainly delight the cheese lovers among the visitors, as some excellent products are offered there. The picturesque village of Indemini is situated between mountains and steep cliffs. The narrow alleys are a reminder of times past and bear witness to a long history. Virtually uninhabited in winter, Indemini comes alive again in summer when holidaymakers and hikers populate the village and enjoy the peaceful nature sceneries and magnificent views. Take the opportunity to hike up to Monte Gambarogno (1734 m) with its breathtaking views of Lake Maggiore, Monte Rosa, Mischabel and Basodino.
