Klewenalp region

Hiking along Rasta’s trail

Thanks to her breathtaking pictures on Instagram, photographer Sylvia Michel and her sheepdog Rasta have become two famous ambassadors for the most beautiful regions of Switzerland. Both recently embarked on a winter hiking tour to Klewenalp with PostBus. The hike to the Stockhütte offers breathtaking views of Lake Lucerne and the Alps of Central Switzerland.

We have put together some impressions of their journey through the unspoilt white winter world to inspire you too.

If you want to follow in Rasta‘s and Sylvia's footsteps, travel as far as Stans, where you change to the PostBus route 311 which will take you comfortably to Beckenried (bus stop Beckenried Post). Then take the cable car up to the starting point. At the top, you can enjoy the magnificent panorama of Lake Lucerne and the Alps of Central Switzerland with the Rigi, the two Mythen and the Fronalpstock peaks.

The rather flat level and not very steep hike, signposted as snowshoe trail WT2, leads steadily downhill from Klewenalp to Stockhütte. Passing the beautiful Klewenalp chapel, the hiking trail leads around the Klewenstock to the mountain restaurant Tannibühl.

Over snow-covered pastures and through spruce forests with views of the Grosser and Kleiner Mythen, the tour now leads down via Ängi (chair lift to Klewen) to the Stockhütte. In the mountain restaurant Stockhütte with its large sun terrace you can enjoy the magnificent panorama with Niederbauen, Oberbauenstock and the two Mythen peaks behind.

Afterwards you take the cable car back from the Stockhütte to Emmetten. From there, the postbus will take you further to Beckenried or Lucerne.

Klewenalp offers you quite a bit more than just winter hiking tours. Skiers, airboarders and snowboarders get their money's worth on the Klewenalp as well, as do snowshoe fans or families who like to go sledging.

A successful tour requires careful planning. Please check the weather and route conditions in advance by consulting the local information points.
