Klewenalp region
Winter hiking tour Klewenalp–Stockhütte
The hike from Klewenalp to Stockhütte, in the heart of Central Switzerland, offers breathtaking views of Lake Lucerne and the Alps of Central Switzerland. At an elevation of 1593 m, Klewenalp is high enough to enjoy the winter sun above the sea of fog. If you choose to take the boat from Lucerne, the trip will be a very special experience of the elements of water, earth and air.
Overview
The starting point of the hike is the Klewenalp mountain station. From Beckenried, the cable car takes you up to the starting point. Once at the top, there is a magnificent panorama of Lake Lucerne and the Alps of Central Switzerland including the Rigi, the two Mythen peaks and the Fronalpstock.
The rather flat level and not very steep hike, signposted as snowshoe trail WT2, leads steadily downhill from Klewenalp to Stockhütte. Passing the beautiful Klewenalp chapel, the hiking trail leads around the Klewenstock to the mountain restaurant Tannibühl.
Over snow-covered pastures and through spruce forests with views of the Grosser and Kleiner Mythen, the tour now leads down via Ängi (chair lift to Klewen) to the Stockhütte. In the mountain restaurant Stockhütte with its large sun terrace you can enjoy the magnificent panorama with Niederbauen, Oberbauenstock and the two Mythen peaks behind.
You return through the snow-covered forest down to the Stockhütte mountain station and then by cable car to Emmetten, and finally by postbus back to Beckenried or Lucerne.
