Pull on your cycling kit and get in the saddle! With the arrival of summer, it’s time to get out onto the Belalp and enjoy the newly constructed 15-kilometre long mountain bike trails set against the spectacular backdrop of this UNESCO world heritage site. The unique topography of Blatten-Belalp makes for an unforgettable ridewith incredible flow on all the trails. The Nesselloop and the Häxutrail both have a variety of trails that are well-suited for any level , including some adventurous bike trails on the alpine plateau.
Neselloop biking
The Nesselloop leads through alpine meadows, past blueberry fields and along the Nessjeri-Suone to the Nesselalp. Don’t miss the Maria zum Schnee (Our Lady of the Snows) chapel and, of course, make sure you take in the glorious views. The subsequent descent begins as a trail over rocks and roots. As you approach Chittumatte, however, the character of the route changes increasingly and from there on, the trail becomes a stony and dusty path. The route between Belalp and Birgisch requires advanced biking skills.
