Suretta Lakes
Hiking Fun on Splügen Pass
Take public transportation to Splügen Pass and enjoy a magnificent hike through the Suretta Lakes region.
The trip begins with a PostBus ride from Thusis to Splügen where you will switch to a blue STPS bus and continue up the Splügen Pass road to the turnoff to Suretta Lakes. From the road, the trail leads across alpine meadows to the lakes plateau where the upper and lower Suretta Lakes, Lake Turra, and two other small lakes are situated amidst lovely scenery. As an additional attraction, a rowboat is available at the upper Suretta Lake. The area is particularly striking in late June/early July when the Alpine roses are in bloom. The path descends northward through meadows and woods to Splügen, or via upper Riedboden and past an old smelting factory to Sufers.
Hiking time: approx. 3 hours to Splügen, approx. 3 ¾ hours to Sufers
Level of difficulty: medium
