Tössegg on the Rhine

Tössegg is an idyllic destination on the Rhine. Here, the Töss River flows into the Rhine. A great place to enjoy a swim, barbecue, bite to eat, or a boat ride.
Tössegg lies between the Irchel, Dättenberg and Rhinsberg hill ranges. Here, the Töss River flows into the Rhine. With its opportunities for bathing, barbecue pits, restaurant, “Bäsebeizli” and boat connections to the Rheinfall, Tössegg is a popular destination and starting point for walks and hikes in any direction.
At an elevation of 346 metres above sea level, Tössegg is part of the municipality of Freienstein-Teufen. Hiking trails up and down the Rhine take you to the popular wedding chapel of Buchberg overlooking the vineyards, to Eglisau or to the ruins of an ancient Roman watchtower.
How to get there
Take S9 to Bülach and then S41 to Embrach-Rorbas. From there, take postbus 522 to Teufen ZH, Unterteufen or Teufen ZH, Schulhaus

You may take your bicycle on the postbus, provided there is sufficient space and you do not obstruct other passengers from getting on or off the vehicle. Transport of electric bicycles on PostBus routes is limited.

WWF Beaver Trail
On the Beaver Trail between Tössegg and Rüdlingen, launched by WWF Zurich, you can discover the habitats of crepuscular and nocturnal rodents. Their tracks are visible everywhere on the densely overgrown banks of the Rhine.
The Beaver trail starts and ends at the jetties of Tössegg and Rüdlingen. Canoes can be rented in Rüdlingen. The Beaver Trail is accessible from both sides. The four-kilometre hike takes two to three hours. The Beaver Trail is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
How to get there from the opposite direction
Take S9 to Bülach. Then S41 to Embrach-Rorbas and finally postbus no. 522 to Teufen ZH, Unterteufen, or S41 to Rafz and from there by postbus 670 to Rüdlingen, Gemeindehaus.

Hike from Buch am Irchel to Tössegg
After a short ascent and spectacular panoramic views from the Irchel Tower, this hike takes you along the forested Irchel ridge to Tössegg and, if desired, by boat to Eglisau.
