From Bauma to Sternenberg

A hike to the highest village in the canton of Zurich

The trail leads through thick forest and wild ravines, past waterfalls and finally to Sternenberg. Here, about 900 m above sea level, you can enjoy stunning panoramic views.

Passing through varied terrain, the trail begins in the Töss Valley – and more precisely in Bauma – and climbs 230 metres to the final destination of Sternenberg. Twelve densely-forested ravines and valleys give the area surrounding the highest village in the canton of Zurich a mystical feel.

On the way, you will pass the Hagheerenloch, a ravine shrouded in legend. You will need a torch and good footwear to explore the ravine – legend has it that a treasure is buried here!
