If you adore snow-covered landscapes, whether you’re a newcomer or highly experienced, this winter trip is perfect for you!
Whether cross-country skiing, on snowshoes or hiking, the route takes you up the mountains around Ovronnaz to the ‘Buvette de Loutse’ restaurant.
The route starts in Tourbillon high above the resort of Ovronnaz. The groomed path heads towards Patiers, a small village up above Mayens-de-Chamoson. Follow it for 1 km and then turn left at the fork to start the ascent. The trail winds through the forest before reaching ‘La Croix de Loutse’.
From ‘La Croix de Loutse’, the view opens up over the alpine pastures, revealing the ‘Haut de Cry’ range and a final push takes you up to the ‘Buvette de Loutse’ restaurant. You can enjoy a welcome rest on its terrace, as well as some speciality dishes of Valais. If you look carefully, you’ll see the Rhône Valley in all its majesty.
The descent from the restaurant is quite steep in places. It passes through the forest before taking you back to Tourbillon.
Two marked trails especially for snowshoes lead to La Loutse, passing through Patiers and ascending directly through the forest and the alpine pastures.
