Your excursion: Ovronnaz–Derborence
The premium trail for seasoned hikers
Discover exceptional locations with a breathtaking panorama of the Valais Alps.
From the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc across the Combins massif and the Dents du Midi − you simply won’t know where to look.
The Jorasse chairlift takes you up to the hillside path which leads to the Pierre à Vatserou. The route zigzags its way to Plan Coppel and on to Plan Salentse, the last shoulder bordering the Petit and Grand Muveran. After a few more turns, you will reach Rambert Hut, where your efforts will be rewarded.
A breathtaking panorama of the Valais Alps, from the Matterhorn to Mont Blanc across the Combins massif and the Dents du Midi, provides a visual treat. And keep your eyes peeled, as you might spot an ibex!
The route continues! Onwards and upwards to the Col de la Forcla, overlooked by the Dent de Chamosentse, which is reflected on the surface of the lake. The marvellous lunar landscape features rocks, lapis, cliffs, névés and marshes.
The mineral-rich Derbonne valley and the river of the same name that flows through it lead walkers on a gentle path towards the Derborence nature reserve. En route, the rustic Dorbon alpine hut (La Chaux) is the perfect spot for a well-deserved rest. The impenetrable world of the Derborence nature reserve and its turquoise lake cap off this hike into the wilderness.
