Aletsch Glacier suspension bridge

Belalp–Hängebrücke–Riederfurka–Riederalp

From Hotel Belalp, the hiking trail leads down to Aletschji and continues over the Leng Acker to the old glacier ascent. As you cross the suspension bridge, the view of the Aletsch Glacier and the Massa Gorge is magnificent.

Once you have made your way across the bridge, you will begin the ascent to the Riederfurka, which leads through the ancient pines of the protected Aletsch Forest – another impressive nature experience. Previously, people had to cross the Aletsch Glacier to travel from the Belalp to the Riederalp, but the suspension bridge constructed in 2008 has reestablished this connection. The project was made possible by the cooperation of Pro Natura, the WWF and the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage.
