A faster way to the Alpstein

This way you can get to Alpstein 30 minutes faster on weekends. From 27 April to 3 November 2024, the PostBus connection from Hirschberg station to Wasserauen will save you a lot of time.

On weekends, you can travel to the starting point for your hike even faster by train and Postbus. At Hirschberg station, a Postbus will collect passengers arriving on Appenzell Railways, and then take them quickly to Weissbad, Schwende or Wasserauen. In Weissbad, a connection is available for the onward journey to Brülisau. Postbuses operate every half hour from 27 April to 3 November 2024 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays as well as on public holidays.

Returning by train

For the return trip from Wasserauen or Brülisau, you can use the usual public transport connections, just as before. To continue your journey towards Gais–St. Gallen or Gais–Altstätten Stadt, please change in Appenzell.
