Swiss Federal Gymnastics Festival (FGF) 13-23 June 2019
Getting there by public transport
The city of Aarau will host the Swiss Federal Gymnastics Festival for the 7th time. This year’s edition will see up to 150,000 visitors and a total of 2,344 clubs with approx. 62,000 gymnasts participating over the two weekends. In addition, 8,000 volunteers, judges and officials will ensure a successful event.
In terms of public transport planning, the Swiss Federal Gymnastics Festival (FGF), Switzerland’s largest multi-sport event, is the most challenging of all federal festivals. More than 90 percent of participating gymnasts are expected to travel by public transport, not least because tickets will be included in the festival pass. Visitors are also advised to use public transport.
2019 FGF supports public transport
The 2019 FGF and SBB have entered into a partnership. As “Official Transport Partner”, SBB will provide smooth travel to and from the event. To ensure 24/7 transport to the various venues and at night to accommodation providers, other strong partners are needed. Therefore, bus operators such as Busbetrieb Aarau AG (BBA), Aargau Verkehr AG (AVA) and PostBus are also firmly integrated in the organisation.
Additional night services
To make sure visitors can enjoy the festival into the early hours, expanded night services with extra trains and busses will be available in the Aarau region during festival nights from Friday to Sunday, 14-16 June and 21-23 June 2019.
For night-time services from Friday to Saturday and Saturday to Sunday, labelled with an additional “Z”, a CHF 5.00 night-time surcharge will apply in addition to the regular fare.
