Schallenberg is popular for excursions among families, hikers and cyclists. From 27 April to 27 October 2024, the Adventure Region can be reached conveniently on weekends by route 252 from Escholzmatt to Thun.

The Schallenberg routeTarget not accessible (route 252) runs from Escholzmatt to Marbach, Schangnau, Eggiwil, Röthenbach im Emmental to Steffisburg and Thun. On Saturdays, Sundays and general public holidays, PostBus and the STI offer four journeys in both directions. In Schangnau you can change to route 251Target not accessible to Kemmeriboden, and in Röthenbach im Emmental you can reach the Chuderhüsi observation tower by changing once to the BLS hikers’ busTarget not accessible (route 271).

Räbloch Gorge

A well-secured hiking trail leads from the Steinmösli high moor to the Räbloch GorgeTarget not accessible, which according to current knowledge was formed by the glacial ice of the last Ice Age. The gorge can be crossed over a natural bridge and offers a magnificent display of nature.

Schallenberg Pass

At 1,167 metres above sea level, the pass is the highest point on the Schallenberg route. Restaurant GabelspitzTarget not accessible at the top of the pass is a popular stop for a culinary break and offers a wonderful view.

Chuderhüsi observation tower

From 2024, new stop “Schangnau, Käserei”
The morning and midday services are provided by PostBus, the afternoon and evening services by STI BusTarget not accessible.
