The Kingfisher, La Sauge’s Ambassador

The emblem of the Nature Centre is the Common Kingfisher, a brilliantly coloured bird that symbolizes the ecological richness of the region’s aquatic habitats. Present around La Sauge throughout the year, it is one of the visitors’ fa-vourite species and perfectly embodies the Centre’s mission: raising awareness of nature conservation while inspiring wonder.

A fascinating fact: when hunting, the kingfisher can dive at speeds of over 40 km/h (25 mph) to catch a fish with re-markable precision!

25 Years of Passion for Nature!

A quarter of a century after opening, the Nature Centre continues to inspire visitors of all ages through its observa-tion hides, educational activities and commitment to biodiversity.

A remarkable milestone: the first kingfishers were spotted just ten days after the centre opened!
