300 bird species – up close with binoculars

With its bodies of water, reed beds and surrounding wetlands, the Klingnau Reservoir is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. It is a place to rest or hibernate for many aquatic and migratory birds.

An adventure trail guides visitors through the various habitats: starting at the pond, then continuing on through the copse, over rough pasture as far as the stream. Eight interactive stations along the way share surprising facts and provide information about the plants and animals. There is an observation hut as you come to the end of the trail. This hideout provides visitors with the ideal opportunity to observe the animals in their natural habitat without disturbing them. For example, there is a perfect view of the nesting aids which were specifically created for kingfishers.

An exhibition held at the BirdLife Nature Center provides visitors with information about the renatured landscape and the many birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians and insects that have made this place their home.
