Gurnigel route

Discover the beautiful Gantrisch region. The local recreation area has a lot to offer when it comes to views and activities. The Postbus takes you from Thurnen or Schwarzenburg directly to the Gantrisch Nature Park and over the Gurnigel Pass.

The Gantrisch Nature Park offers a variety of wonderful panoramic views, various activities in summer and winter, cultural treasures and regional delicacies.

Find out for yourself. The Gurnigel route (route 323) takes you conveniently from Thurnen or Schwarzenburg to the beautiful Gantrisch region without having to search for a parking space.

Activities

Whether it’s a short walk to the Gantrischseeli lake or an extended hike – the Gantrisch Nature Park offers a wide range of hiking routes to suit every taste. And on the various themed trails, you’ll learn lots of interesting facts about nature and the history of the land and people in the nature park.
But the Gantrisch Nature Park can also be discovered on two wheels. Various mountain bike trails and bicycle routes lead through the region.

Gurnigel−Stockhorn hiking ticket

The hike from Gurnigel to Stockhorn is the epitome of a classic Alpine hike and offers magnificent views along the entire route. The hiking ticket includes journeys by Postbus and on the Stockhorn cable car.

Gäggersteg

A particularly exciting themed trail is the Gäggersteg boardwalk. A unique wooden walkway that winds its way through the trees at an altitude of 8 metres and goes over the storm wood with its mighty roots. Here you can learn a lot about biodiversity and experience reforestation up close. The Gäggersteg boardwalk also offers superb views of the Gantrisch mountain range.

Cultural treasures

The region is home to a variety of historically and culturally significant places. One of these is the world-renowned Abegg Foundation in Riggisberg. More than 7,000 textiles and works of art from Europe, the Middle East and the Silk Road, which are of historical value, can be admired here.

Culinary Gantrisch

The region also offers a large selection of regional products which you can sample in one of the restaurants and inns.

Activities in winter

In winter, the Gantrisch region also offers many activities such as snowshoeingTarget not accessible, cross-country skiing and skiing. Benefit from the Gurnigel Ride and Board Pass, which includes a Postbus journey and a ski ticket at the Gantrisch ski lift.

Gurnigel route timetable (route 323)
From Thurnen or Schwarzenburg

  • Two services a day from each departure point
  • Additional services: runs on Saturdays, Sundays and general public holidays from 24 December 2023 to 26 February 2024, from 22 June to 20 October 2024 and from 23 December 2024 to 25 February 2025.

The Gurnigel route is supplemented by additional connections via the nature and sports bus and the snow bus.
