Valle Onsernone is renowned above all for its unique, almost impassible topography, with the Isorno river roaring down the valley and distinctive villages sheltering on their sunny terraces. Why not discover this beautiful place by experiencing one of the excursions below?
On this route, you will also enjoy the three-tone horn, which celebrates its 100th anniversary this year.
Via delle Vose
This ancient mule track originally facilitated trade in the valley. Retrace the path used by the farmers of Valle Onsernone to reach the valley bottom.
In Loco (stop: “Loco, Paese”), a visit to the Museo Onsernonese is a must. There, you can discover the culture and history of the valley and pay a trip to the mill, which still produces the traditional farina bóna corn flour.
The path then descends through the woods to Niva, where there is a press previously used to juice grapes.
After you have passed Vosa, the path climbs and then descends again towards Pila. This distinctive little group of houses perching on a sunny terrace is an excellent place to rest before continuing downhill to Intragna.
Once you arrive in Intragna, be sure to visit the town center and the tallest bell tower in Ticino. You can begin your journey home by Postbus from the stop “Intragna, Ponte” or by train from Intragna railway station.
