A look behind the scenes – project update, spring 2026

AmiGo is picking up speed: a lot has happened at AmiGo in recent months. The first vehicles have arrived in Switzerland, the depot is under construction and the public is showing great interest in autonomous driving.

Several Swiss Post AmiGo autonomous vehicles are being film-wrapped with the post horn in a factory hall.

Before the vehicles are put on the road, they are given a new look. Film-wrapped in yellow and adorned with the traditional post horn, they are easily recognizable.

Arrival in Eastern Switzerland

The first vehicles have arrived in Switzerland. With 25 vehicles planned by the end of 2026, AmiGo is playing a pioneering role in autonomous driving in Europe.

Public event: AmiGo will be presented to visitors at an information stand in the old town of Altstätten.

Klausmarkt Christmas market in Altstätten

The AmiGo team was present at the Klausmarkt in Altstätten and entered into direct dialogue with interested parties. Visitors were able to get in the vehicle – and form their own impression of AmiGo.

A number of AmiGo vehicles are parked in the underground car park of the depot.

Depot under construction

The depot in Altstätten is growing step by step: infrastructure, processes and working environment are being set up. This is creating the conditions for operating the vehicles efficiently and preparing them for use.

Dialogue with the public

At the public events in Altstätten, Widnau and Heiden, the local populace gained an insight into the project and its next stages. Such events help to clarify questions, identify needs at an early stage and create added value for the region with the services on offer.

AmiGo on Swiss roads

To ensure that AmiGo is safely autonomous when on the road, it needs to be trained for typical conditions in Switzerland, such as narrow mountain roads or changeable weather. Eastern Switzerland – the route over the Stoss (AR), for example – is ideally suited for this.
