If an exceptional situation arises in Switzerland, the transport sector also needs to be coordinated. This coordination process (CTES) is part of the Confederation’s crisis prevention programme and is the responsibility of the Federal Office of Transport (FOT). The legal basis is the Ordinance on the Coordination of Transport in Exceptional Situations (CTESO). The CTES office implements the FOT’s strategic requirements. In such a situation, SBB and PostBus take over the coordination and system management of their respective units.
