Collina d’Oro
Where world culture and local traditions meet
Forget the hectic city life and enjoy the peacefulness of the walking trails while you discover the region’s cultural heritage.
Collina d'Oro boasts a rich history, witnessed by a multitude of art monuments, stately buildings and ancient religious structures. The unique beauty of its natural surroundings has impressed even international personalities, who have created a special blend of local culture and international openness. An extensive network of well maintained hiking trails allows you to explore and enjoy the idyllic landscapes over several days. You may also want to visit the churches of Sant'Abbondio in Gentilino (bus stop "Gentilino, S. Abbondio") and San Tommaso in Agra (bus stop "Agra, Paese"). The Hermann Hesse museum (bus stop "Montagnola, Paese"), housed in the Casa Camuzzi in Montagnola, where the writer lived for 12 years, is also worth a special mention. For refreshment, the many grotti offer a varied selection of culinary specialities, and even Indian cuisine is catered for: if you want to follow the traces of one of Hermann Hesse's most famous books, Siddhartha, you will find that there is an Indian restaurant just a few steps away from the writer's favourite grotto.
