Locarno–Tenero–Sonogno (Verzasca Valley)
From the scenic area around Locarno and Tenero on the shores of Lake Maggiore, the Verzasca Route takes you to the enchanting Verzasca Valley with its picturesque villages, the emerald-green Verzasca river and a breathtaking landscape.
The Verzasca Route takes you from Locarno on Lake Maggiore to the magical Verzasca Valley. Enjoy Locarno’s Mediterranean climate while strolling through the lovely old town and lush parks (PostBus stop Locarno, Via della Pace). Tenero on Lake Maggiore offers a wide variety of cultural and sports activities (PostBus stop Tenero, Piazza). For a thrilling experience, go to the Adventure Park in Gordola at the entrance to the Verzasca Valley to swing from tree to tree on ropes (PostBus stop Gordola, Post Office). The natural beauty of the narrow Verzasca Valley, the magical green river and the peaceful villages with fresco-adorned buildings are simply enthralling. The area ranges from a Mediterranean valley floor to alpine peaks and offers numerous outdoor adventures. Visit the dam on Vogorno Lake at the valley entrance (PostBus stop Diga Verzasca). You can bungee jump from the wall just like James Bond did in the film Goldeneye. Corippo, nestled against the hillside, is a small village of great architectural value (PostBus stop Corippo, Bivio). The conditions in Val Corippo are ideal for canyoning tours. Ponte di Salti, a double-arched stone bridge leading across the Verzasca river near Lavertezzo, is a striking sight (PostBus stop Lavertezzo, Village). One of the typical buildings in Sonogno, all the way at the end of the valley, houses the Verzasca Valley Museum (PostBus stop Sonogno).

Explore the area of the Verzasca Route on foot on the Sentiero Verzasca
Like liquid jade, the Verzasca river carves its way through the washed-out rocky landscape. Follow the riverbed to see the naturally formed pools. And if you take a hike in the mountains, you will be equally awed by the breathtaking scenery.

Many of the exhibits in the Verzasca Valley Museum in Sonogno bear witness to the valley’s past as a farming community. Life in the valley is also illustrated by a corn mill, the hydraulic power plant in Frasco, and an ethnographic trail in Odro.
