The Appenzell Route takes you from Herisau in Canton Appenzell via Stein to St. Gallen. Experience the lush green hills of the Appenzell region with handsome farm houses at every turn and beautiful views of the gently rolling landscape.

A stroll through the lovely old town of Herisau should not be missed. The Herisau Museum illustrates the history of the Canton Appenzell Ausserrhoden (PostBus stop Herisau, Village). The Robert Walser Path is a loop trail dedicated to the poet and his work. Delve into the culture of the Appenzell region and visit the Folklore Museum and the show dairy in Stein (PostBus stop Stein AR, Post Office). Be prepared for a thrilling experience when you cross the Ganggelibrugg pedestrian bridge on the way to St. Gallen. The Solar Path from St. Gallen to Hundwiler Höhi serves as a good introduction to solar energy.
